Day 2 Coverage

Michael Lombardi thinks Colin Kaepernick will go in the first three picks of the 2nd round.

  1. 2 things

    1) Lombardi really likes our first rounder

    2) We were up to 56 Facebook likes yesterday and now we have 55. OUr draft coverage both gained us popularity and then lost it. Interesting.

  2. hahah, i'd love to see who it was.

  3. I'd put stock into Lombardi's opinion if I weren't convinced by multiple appearances on the B.S. Report that he's an idiot.

Did you hear the latest one? Simmons asked him something like what the worst case/best case scenario for Cam Newton would be and the three guys Lombardi brought up were Vince Young, Akili Smith and Steve McNair. That's pretty pathetic. I'm surprised he didn't mention Culpepper, McNabb or Randall Cunningham.

  4. Yeah I was surprised Simmons didn't say something.

Normally I think Lombardi seems pretty bright though. You don't?

  5. His whole Blue-Chipper concept is a joke. It's supposed to be the top 5 players at any position, but in the span of one podcast he'll list 10 RBs that are "blue." Also, if a guy has two good weeks he's immediately "blue." It just gets annoying.

(Ha, the verification word for this comment is "drivel." Sounds about right.)

    ReplyDelete
  6. YEah, the blue chipper term is pretty loosely applied

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well after the movie Blue Chips I feel it just became a bandwagon term. I think DGP is a blue chip blogging prospect.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Speaking of Blue Chips: "They bought NEON!!"

Do you think that movie broke the soul of not only Nick Nolte's character but also the man himself? He hasn't really been the same since.

  9. Not much buzz going on right now. Had some breakfast a while back. It's amazing how quick you can go to a restuarant and get in and out for breakfast on a weekday. I was in Pete's Eggnest yesterday for a total of 12 minutes. Today was more like 20, but that's cuz i ordered a beer. Impressed?

    ReplyDelete
  10. me too. why do you think i ordered the beer?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Alright chumps, let's do this! I let the surprise wear off and now I really like the pick. Pete - did the Clayborn pick surprise you? Nobody considered that a reach?

    ReplyDelete
  12. And yes - for some reason I am a TJ Yates fan. Especially after reading that he has the fastest release of the QB's in the draft.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I was surprised they went with Clayborn, but some people really like him. For some reason I don't.

Mayock just said he's concerned that Bowers may continue to slide since all these teams have passed on him once. If he does slide I'd love for the Hawks to take him.

  14. Jim Mora is on NFL Network and said he got up early to watch some of the Royal Wedding. He loved the pagantry and said she looked beautiful and he looked very handsome. Man I'm glad we fired this clown.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think this is my realistic(sorta) #57 wishlist - Ras-I Dowling, maybe Bowers, maybe Greg Little, Marvin Austin.

Here is an interesting thought - what if Rodney Hudson is available?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I still think Hudson is an option. He can play G and maybe C.

I'd like Greg Little too. I think he'll be awesome. Any of the guys you mentioned would be great picks, but they'll clearly pick some guy none of us even considered.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I too want to pick the Batman villain Raz A Guhl or whatever...

I want a Guard. Let's just make a huge offensive line, and let best go mode.

Also... are you serious about Mora Jr?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah, that is for sure. Who saw Stephen Burton at SeaTac with Hawks gear? I also liked what I saw in Courtney Smith...Not that WR should be a priority over DL

    ReplyDelete
  19. No need to draft a WR, Pete's gonna turn Keary Colbert into a star this year.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Can't disclose my source, but if he's reading this maybe he'll expose himself.

    ReplyDelete
  21. A difference maker at DT would be a huge step towards NFL Domination

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think the Forrest buzz will build overnight.

    ReplyDelete
  23. where's he honestly ranked amongst punters?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not related to the draft, but have any of you been following this Roger McDowell stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, probably could use it's own post, but (un)fortunately for Roger our attention is devoted to football.

    ReplyDelete
  26. My favorite part is when he threatend the guy. He came at him with a bat and said "how much are your teeth worth?" hahahahahahahahah

    ReplyDelete
  27. That is classic. Can you imagine what Norm Charlton would have said?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Can you imagine what Norm MacDonald WILL say on Tuesday?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sounds like Oakland is trying to get up to take Kaepernick

    ReplyDelete
  30. Doesn't look like Dowling will slip any further

    ReplyDelete
  31. All of my realistic wish list might be gone within 5 picks of the second round.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Couple corners off the board to start the 2nd round. I like how they say Aaron Williams might switch to Safety, but he's not a good tackler.

Do we see Ryan Mallett go here to Cincinnati?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anthony Munoz looks like a mexican Dolph Lundgren

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just paint some black stripes on Dalton's head and it'll look like he's already wearing his new helmet

    ReplyDelete
  35. I sense Carson Palmer will be here next year. Not sure I love it, just a feeling I get

    ReplyDelete
  36. Whoa! Niners trade up! Who's it gonna be?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Niners have two women in the war room. Figures

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kaepernick, interesting. See you hell you dirtbag

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just went from a huge fan of CK to thinking his tattoos make him look like a pansy

    ReplyDelete
  40. He could be good, but I doubt it

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm a big fan of this guy and not happy that the Cards so far have added Peterson and Ryan Williams

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lots of durability issues in the AZ backfield

    ReplyDelete
  43. Tennessee really loves the Pac-10

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bruce Carter's a good pick. As long as he comes back from the injury. Probably would've been mid-1st if healthy

    ReplyDelete
  45. I thought Jenkins would be available at 57

    ReplyDelete
  46. So I just looked at the picks between now and the Hawks. Barring any trades, Oakland is the only team I could see that would prevent Mallett from being available at 57. Still don't know if I want that to happen. If we don't resign Matt, I'd rather draft Mallett than go for Palmer

    ReplyDelete
  47. Texans apparently have decided that instead of covering the WRs they'd rather just sack the QB

    ReplyDelete
  48. Looks like the lockout is back in effect

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like the idea of Matt or Carson because next years QB class could be really good

    ReplyDelete
  50. Matt coming back would be my #1 choice. But maybe we could have Matt back for 2 years and Mallett developing

    ReplyDelete
  51. Will a safety or an ILB be taken first? They're the only two positions that haven't been selected yet (not counting FB, K or P)

If the Lions take Da'Quan Bowers here, they could have the #1 and #2 picks from most early mock drafts

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tears of joy from Titus Young? Or just crying because he's going to Detroit?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Why am I really starting to fear the Lions?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I could see Hudson going with one of the Bronco picks

    ReplyDelete
  55. this guy cries and carries on a little much for a 2nd rounder

    ReplyDelete
  56. Really good draft for the Broncos

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah

Who are the butt Rams going take? Wide receiver? Piss us off and take Austin?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Torrey Smith? I am ok with that, he seems average to me

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yeah, just don't take Greg Little please

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hmmm, OK. He could be pretty good

    ReplyDelete
  61. These picks are flying. Who is Indy trading up for?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Liking some of these players still on the board

    ReplyDelete
  63. Alright Pete, only 5 more picks to go, who do you think ends up with the Hawks?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't want to jinx it. I'll hold off for another 2 picks

    ReplyDelete
  65. Looks like even thinking about it jinxed it

    ReplyDelete
  66. There go 2 of the people I would have liked.

    ReplyDelete
  67. EFF - everyone I have wanted is being picked right before us, what a tease

    ReplyDelete
  68. With Hudson and Austin gone the guys i'd like:
    Mallett
    Greg Little
    Will Rackley

    ReplyDelete
  69. EP - they call that the VlMarcus Tubbs Syndrome.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Commercials on both channels. Never fails.

    ReplyDelete
  71. OK, so we now have a 3rd, another 4 and better spots in the 5 and 7

    ReplyDelete
  72. so we have the 11th pick of round 3 and 2 of the top 10 in round 4. Guess they just don't like anybody in this draft

    ReplyDelete
  73. think they'll let tez announce the 3rd rounder?

    ReplyDelete
  74. starting a new thread for the third round if anyone's interested

    ReplyDelete
  75. Couple corners off the board to start the 2nd round. I like how they say Aaron Williams might switch to Safety, but he's not a good tackler.

Do we see Ryan Mallett go here to Cincinnati?

    ReplyDelete
  76. A difference maker at DT would be a huge step towards NFL Domination

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jim Mora is on NFL Network and said he got up early to watch some of the Royal Wedding. He loved the pagantry and said she looked beautiful and he looked very handsome. Man I'm glad we fired this clown.

    ReplyDelete
  78. hahah, i'd love to see who it was.
