TD Celebration

So in all of the craziness surrounding the last few minutes of the Super Bowl something is being overlooked ... Santonio Holmes' stupid celebration. In case you missed it, he mimicked LeBron James' pregame preparation, pretending that the ball was that bottle of chalk, dumping it into his hands and then clapping.

This was a great celebration the first time I saw it, when Nate Burleson did it last year against ... Cleveland. That's the only city it makes sense to do it in because you're making fun of LeBron's pregame ritual (which he stole from KG anyway right?) and riling up the fans. Here's a few instances when it wouldn't make sense:

1. After you've made the biggest catch of your career.
2. After you've just helped your team win the Super Bowl.
3. When you're playing against Arizona in Tampa, Fl.
4. After somebody else already did it, rendering it completely unoriginal.

What an idiot.

I did see that stupid celebration but you know who didnt, the refs. I believe using the ball as a prop is an automatic 15 yard penalty. Who knows what happens after that. If I wasnt alone in my basement watching the game I wouldve punched somebody.

Yeah, I just thought about that as well. It definitely falls under that penalty rule. I'm shocked to realize that the refs missed a call against the Steelers in a Super Bowl.

What are you dudes talking about? I haven't been on the internet in the last couple of days. Aren't we all still waiting for the booth review on that last Warner "fumble"?

I was watching NFL Live earlier and they pointed out that during James Harrison's run back Fitzgerald actually had to shove over Antrel Rolle (his own teammate) who was standing too close to the field on the sidelines. If he hadn't had to do that there's no way Harrison scores ... that sucks. I've been saying it all year, the Steelers are the luckiest team in the league. And I should know, I watched all the games.

For those Friday Night Lights fans out there. Remember the episode where they are playing Laribee High after hosting them after the tornado. Riggins is flying down the sidelines to score the winning touchdown and the assbag coach jumps out and tackles him. The game just ends. I remember thinking what would happen if that was a real game. I also remember seeing Harrison fly down the sidelines and thinking why doesnt someone just step out and tackle him. What would happen? There is no way they say well he wouldve scored so lets put 6 up on the board. Maybe its a penalty and 1 untimed down. If this is the case, why wouldnt more people jump out and tackle guys as they are about to take it to the house?

For what it's worth, Lebron is just imitating Garnett.

The NFL has now admitted that it should have been a 15 yard "prop celebration" penalty. The reason they give for not calling it is that the refs didn't notice it because it occurred so long after the actual touchdown.

I guess that's a good precedent to set. Do whatever you want, as long as it's about a minute after you score. Pete, I think this opens the door for your "Too tight" football "dance."

Yeah, but I bet his "Angel in a Centerfold" routine woudl still garner a 15 yarder.
