Seahawks 2009 Schedule

So in case you haven't seen it yet, (which is stupid to say, because being the Superfans you all are, you've already checked it out) here is the Seahawks schedule for next year:

Week 1: St. Louis
Week 2: @ San Francisco
Week 3: Chicago
Week 4: @ Indianapolis 10:00 AM
Week 5: Jacksonville
Week 6: Arizona
Week 7: BYE
Week 8: @ Dallas 10:00 AM
Week 9: Detroit
Week 10 @ Arizona
Week 11: @ Minnesota 10:00 AM
Week 12 @ St. Louis 10:00 AM
Week 13: San Francisco
Week 14 @ Houston 10:00 AM
Week 15: Tampa Bay
Week 16: @ Green Bay 10:00 AM
Week 17: Tennessee

I highlighted the 10 AM games because we always lose them and there are 6 OF THEM this year. Thanks a pantload Rodge! (I am assuming that Goodell makes the schedule all by himself with a spare pencil tucked behind his ear and his tongue out of the side of his mouth) It's especially curious that they scheduled the Dallas game for 10:00 AM. Dallas has 6 home games this year that are not during primetime, 3 of them are 1:00 PM start times. Those games are against the Chargers, the Raiders, and the Falcons. Why would the Falcons game be a 1:00 PM game and not ours? My explanation is that everybody hates us and wants us to lose.

Here's another problem: our road schedule consists of teams that went 28-12 at home last year, including the Texans who went 6-2! WHAT!? Did anyone else realize this? Also, they completely blew their home game against the Colts when Sage Rosenfels tried to leap into the end zone from his own 45. So they realistically could have been 7-1 at home. This is a tailor-made "lay an egg" game for us, but since we'll be going 16-0 this season, we probably won't lose it.

Something else that's interesting (and by interesting I mean fucking bullshit) is that we have 3 straight road games in November. In past seasons I would be more concerned, but if you remember what I mentioned last paragraph you shouldn't be too worried. Also, I'm pretty sure that Crabtree will wait for that San Francisco game in week 13 to break the TD record. The most troubling part of this will be for those of you who sit in the Hawks' Nest who won't get to hear Marcus's theories about football for 27 days.

That's about all I had to say. What do you guys think?

All pretty valid points. I'm with you on all the 10am start times being lame. However, we did kind of luck out without having a single game on the East coast. Every road game out of our division is in the Midwest or Texas.

I like the positioning of the Bye Week. From a tailgating standpoint, I am very happy with the home schedule. All 8 home games are 1pm starts and back-to-back home games only once (won't get burned out). I'm sure other people will think that's a stupid criteria for evaluating the schedule, but try tailgating for every home game instead of 1 or 2 a year and then talk to me.

Also, I bet we have a better record than the Titans when we meet in the season finale.

According to NFL.com, we had to schedule around the fucking Sounders:
"The Seahawks had to avoid a conflict with the MLS Sounders by having it's bye on Week 7, and then forcing a road game in Week 11 to avoid the MLS Cup to be played on Nov. 22."

So we're playing 3 road games in November because we let a stupid ass soccer team use our stadium? Makes me want to puke.

None of this matters. Matt is back and we're a team of destiny.

Superbowl. I'm calling it. First one to go on record. I stake my reputation as a sports analyst.

i just hope Matt's runner up status in Seattle's March Madness doesn't hurt his feelings to the point that he can't perform at a high level, thus wholely destroying what i'm sure to be a completely normal hetro man crush that finn has.

Good point jimi! I'm sure he'll be fine. He's awesome!!!

Well Finn, I guess I didn't make my feelings clear enough, considering that you think you're the FIRST to go on record with a Super Bowl prediction.

I realize I didn't mention the playoffs, but c'mon, I already called 16-0, we can pretty much assume I was including the Super Bowl in that.

A lot of Patriots fans predicted 16-0 a couple of seasons ago... and they went home a little bummed out. It's Superbowl or bust here pal.

Well that Pariots team did GO to the Superbowl, they just didn't win it. Come to think of it, your prediction doesn't say anything about actually winning it. So now who's leaving things out of their predictions?

Superbowl win is implied when a man of my class and stature even mentions the Seahawks and the Superbowl in the same sentence. No need to argue though. You called it. I'm just jumping on the bandwagon.

All I saw in your discussion was excuses. You play in the weakest division in American Football (not to be confused with the more popular football, what you may call soccer). Waaah 10 AM games! Waaah Dallas! Waaah bad bye week! Waaaah 9ers twice! Waaah rain!

There are no excuses in football, American or otherwise.
