off subject.........Why isn't Bill Simmons one of HCM heroes? I believe we all read, or listen, to him and many of the writers who have the powers to post on this fine web sight often emulate his writing style.

I was going to post the same question especially after reading his latest mailbag. Read the response to a question from a guy in Tulsa and tell me he isn't a hero to the Seattle sport fan.

I try to emulate your dressing style, but you're not on the HCM heroes list either... so there.

I dunno... it's a pretty tough list to crack, but Simmons did lead the only national campaign for the survival of the Sonics...

I'd consider it.

I just think that if Musberger is on there because of his comment during a football game then Simmons should be. He has basically crusaded for our cause while having no real connection to Seattle.

Another good point.

Musberger had more to lose. He said it on a nationally televised football game. And Brent was the one calling the broadcast of Game 5, so he gets extra points. I respect Simmons for his support of the Sonics, but he has too many negatives in my book. Namely, he a big, douchey Boston sports fan. That alone should leave him off the list.

As for the writing style, I think he just has a similar sense of humor to the majority of the contributors and that just happens to translate into the written word.

Plus, I'm pretty sure he talked shit about Hawks fans being whiners. So he can piss off.

As much as I love him, Matt Hasselbeck is also a big Boston sports fan so that shouldn't be used against Simmons. You guys run the show but in my book Simmons stood up for us when no one else cared and is still holding strong in his disgust at what happened and that is hero worthy.

Plus- He posted Finns email on his all-Sonics mailbag. Although I am starting to feel like I am coming on a little strong campaigning for Simmons so I will stop fighting, which is something he never did for us

Simmons is great, but I don't think he needs any more slurping.

Another couple of things for Musberger. The game in which he called out Clay Bennett was an OKLAHOMA game in which they were blowing out Texas Tech. by 50+ points. Only Oklahomans are watching at that point.
Secondly, I just remembered watching a replay of one of the Sonics-Spurs playoff games from '05 (had to watch the replay because I was at the game. Finn, Pete, you guys were there) Anyway, Ginobili more or less got a foul called on him for flopping. and Musberger basically started making fun of him, saying, "Oh, that looked like Maradona going down in midfield!"

You guys do what you like, doesn't mean I have to like it or agree with it.

We should make EP our hero, he always has been mine. Now it is time to make it official

EP said...

Nah, as Pete would say- "I'm a hero to none"

As soon as Bill Simmons writes a comment column about taking two girls home with his buddy and nailing them both (one in the ass)... will make him a hero of ours... fair enough EP?
